Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu broke down in tears while recalling how some of his friends allegedly deserted him following his brain surgery and health crisis.
Speaking on the Beer Parlour Talk Show episode titled Julius Agwu — Back From The Brink, the comedian reflected on his career and contribution to Nigerian comedy before becoming emotional while discussing the difficult period of his life.
Agwu recalled how he coined the term “musicomedy” to describe his blend of music and comedy, saying the concept reflected the way his mind worked.
As he became overwhelmed with emotion, the comedian removed his glasses and repeatedly apologised before expressing gratitude to those who stood by him during his health challenges.
He also opened up about feeling abandoned by people he considered friends, alleging that some of them stopped communicating with him after his health crisis.
“My friends deserted me,” Agwu said, recalling how a bishop who had been managing him allegedly collected his money and later stopped communicating with him.
Agwu, however, expressed faith that he would overcome the experience, adding, “God no go leave you.”
The hosts consoled the comedian and reminded him of the impact he had made in the entertainment industry, assuring him that his legacy would remain even if he never returned to performing.
